Looking East out of our windows (4645 William Head Road) at sunrise in the spring provides backlighting for the mountains in upper Washington State, south of Mount Baker. It appears as though the mountain goes to the water level… This is because it is over the horizon and with the earth’s curvature we are only seeing the top part of the mountain.
